Nintendo sells just 460,000 Wii U units in last six months
Nintendo revealed today that they sold just 460,000 Wii U consoles for the 180 day period ending September 30, 2013.

The shocking figure comes as part of the company's latest earnings report.

This most recent quarter was an improvement over the last quarter, with the gaming giant selling 300,000 units compared to 160,000. The console was obviously helped by a price cut and new higher profile releases such as Pikmin 3 and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

Thanks to a weak yen, the company did manage a $6.1 million profit, which was a decent turnaround for the company that lost $168 million last year.

Nintendo had internal targets of 9 million Wii U sales by the end of the company's 2014 financial year (year ended March 2014). That target seems utterly impossible, as the console has yet to reach 4 million units sold since launch.

The 3DS had a much better quarter, selling 3.89 million units, along with software sales hitting 27.38 million units thanks to new first party titles like Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Pokemon X and Y are expected to help next quarter's 3DS sales improve even more.

Maybe, but I don't think it'll be as horrible to them as you think it will.

Nintendo should pick up with the new Mario & Luigi U bundle. 2 games included for $300 price range is a lot better deal and more recognizable to parents than the Zelda Bundle. Honestly though if Nintendo wants to push Wii U, they need to do 2 things; 1) Pull all Wii's off North America Shelves. 2) Start releasing more first party titles, preferably on time. 3rd Party is going to move on Wii U if Nintendo can't prove it can resell their killer apps.

Also 3DS sales should spike with the new Zelda coming out.

I'm personally going to wait for all the next gen consoles to drop by at least $100. And I never picked up a PS3 because during it's lifespan it was always more expensive than the competition.

Some analysts are saying the Wii U is the best choice this holiday and with the (rumored) information about the XB1 and PS4 not living up to the hype of the alleged power they had and issues of features not working, the networks to handle the online games not being ready, and other potential game breaking issues with the software and hardware it is being said the XB1 and PS4 are rushed and not complete.

Not to mention many of the games being made are also still made for the 360 and PS3 and Wii U.

    AMD Phenom II 965 @ 3.67Ghz, 8GB DDR3, ATI Radeon 5770HD, 256GB OCZ Vertex 4, 2TB Additional HDD, Windows 7 Ultimate.
