Microsoft to ship Windows 9 'Threshold' in April 2015?
According to a report, Microsoft's upcoming 'Threshold' will be shipped as 'Windows 9' in April 2015.

That's according to Paul Thurrott's Supersite for Windows, which has previously disclosed information about a major revamp at Microsoft called 'Threshold'.

Microsoft is currently working on Update 1 for Windows 8.1, and on Windows Phone 8.1, but apparently is quite eager to get the "Windows 8" generation well and truly over. According to Thurrott, Microsoft will reveal its plans publicly for the next major Windows version (codename Threshold) at BUILD 2014 this April, which Microsoft will brand as "Windows 9."

At BUILD, Microsoft will provide its vision for the next generation of Windows, scaling back the secrecy of the Sinofsky era. There will be no alpha builds of the operating system though as it won't even enter development until that month.

Within the next year, before BUILD 2015, Microsoft will deliver three milestones of the operating system before final release (betas, release candidate and so forth.) Threshold will reportedly fix the Metro design language used by Windows, which may include a rumored Windowed mode that works on the Destkop as well.

Unfortunately, that's about the all the detail available for now.

Well lets hope they stay true to their pattern of bad, good, bad and this one is a good one!

I was thinking last night while posting on another site this will be the first time i think the pattern won't hold. My belief is people don't like the "new" win 8 design and prefer the desktop and start menu. Win 9 from what i've heard will get rid of the desktop altogether. So the misstep i think Win8 took, instead of reversing direction, they are going full speed ahead away from what people want.

I don't think your comment fits, it isn't that M$ is policing what you can/can't watch, they are simply sidestepping and avoiding the legal battle of a couple streaming themselves having sex and a child say under 10 sees it. M$ would be liable for providing the ability for this to be seen by a child.

Perhaps you could explain who this could be prevented and M$ i bet would activate the service today... Trust me the time worked at M$ most of the employees are super liberal and would hole heatedly allow it, but the company can't be so liberal.

I guess what I really wish is that they would release the next great version. Make it worth going out and buying a new PC again.
