New 'Angry Birds Epic' is an adventure, turn-based RPG

Earlier this week, Rovio teased their upcoming 'Angry Birds' game with a video showing a bird hiding in a suit of armor and the tagline of "it will be epic."

Well, the new game, soft launching in Canada and Australia, is actually called 'Angry Birds Epic' and will be a step away from their traditional games.



The latest will be an adventure RPG with turn-based combat, and will also include a crafting system (popular in many other games). Finally, the company says the game will have a "challenging endgame."

As part of the crafting system, gamers can use in-game currency to build armor, weapons, potions, etc, and the currency can be won or purchased through Rovio for real money.

After its soft launch this week, the title will see a global launch for iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8 later in the year.

I know, you can't buy a game anymore without having to buy some sort of add on in order to get all of the game. I don't mind paying for extra add on levels, if it feels like I got a whole game to begin with. The problem is that most games made now feel like they just built a game and chopped it up to sell you the rest later. I am not talking about just the phone games, but all games.

  Angry birds jumped the shark when AB star wars was released. It wasn't a bad game (albeit borrowed physics models) but the market was over-saturated with angry birds. I received an AB tshirt for xmas that year.
