Latest 'Call of Duty' reaches 7.5 million units sold in first week

Activision has another hit on their hands.

The latest blockbuster in the 'Call of Duty' franchise, 'Advanced Warfare' sold 7.51 million units worldwide in just its first week of availability, beating out other 2014 stalwarts including Destiny and Titanfall.



Although the numbers are big, they really don't show serious growth compared to last year's launch of "Call of Duty: Ghosts," which sold 7.25 million units in its first week, and 8.23 million if you include the late launches for the (at the time) new PS4 and Xbox One.

The game sold best for PS4, at 3.05 million units, followed by the Xbox One at 2.06 million units. The 360 outsold its late gen counterpart the PS3 1.22 million to 1.09 million, but it still shows demand. The PC version barely moved 100,000 units.

  The PC units didn't sell for THIS game and NEVER WILL compared to the consoles. This game franchise is for simpleton kiddie gamers (and of course some simpleton adults too) and their consoles. Small maps, run-n-gun, spawn killing, mods, hacks............all the ingredients for a crap game that sells to certain people.
  
  Now, if COD had maps/missions like the Battlefield franchise, then that'd be a horse of a different color.

  I miss the older COD PC games, (I & II). COD is nothing but an annual cash grab for Activision now.

  I don't get how this game keeps on selling. I know some gamers that claim to love CoD but all they do is bitch and moan about the other players online and how it is so much like the last game. I liked the early CoD games and other shooter games like Halo when they had a decent campaign/single player experience and then they all became these massive online games where all you do is run around and shoot each other.
  
  I always find it hilarious when a gamer claims they are hardcore because they have high kill points and XP in CoD but if you put a game in front of them that makes you think and has some challenge to it they rage quit because they cannot compete.

  Agreed ^ All it is now is a game of reflexes. Whoever is fastest, wins. No doubt this takes a LOT of practice to master, but the old single-player experience used to be a strong point of the COD franchise. I lament it's passing.

  My comment was made BEFORE the official release. Now that it has indeed been released, the reality of the playability/layout of maps, etc has settled in...along with ALL the feedback from those that purchased.
  
  Yes....I did want this game...quite badly I might add but not anymore. It's very very very very much like previous COD games.
