TAG Heuer smartwatch goes on sale for $1,400 in November with 40 hour battery life
TAG Heuer's smartwatch will launch in November and cost about $1400, say sources, a price tag lower than expected for the luxury watch maker.

There is little known about the watch, but the company did announce a partnership with Google and Intel last month for joint development of the watch.

The new device will have a battery life of 40 hours, significantly higher than all existing Android Wear devices and over double the battery life of the new Apple Watch, which has an average range of 18 hours with use.

"I hope they sell millions and millions and millions of them," said Jean-Claude Biver, the head of watchmaking activities for parent company LVMH Louis Vutton Moet Hennesy SE, of the Apple Watch. "The more they sell the more a few people will want something different and come to TAG Heuer."

Heheh, what more should it do? I seriously have a hard time thinking why a lot of people even need a watch these days. Just saying if you are time bound and need to be somewhere you probably already have a clock at home, or a computer as I'm typing on, a phone, tablet or any other electronic device most all have the time. Some have alarms but maybe i'm clueless, but what more do you need a watch to do other then tell time? Any other function there are phones, tablets, computers or anything else that would do more work for you?

They want it because it's different, a fad, that many corporations would jam down our throat until the next big thing can be invented or innovated. I'm with you, I see no point, although I do like the comforts of a regular watch on my wrist; I at least know it's more about cosmetic than function in the digital age. If I need a useful app, there's always my mobile handset or laptop, as you said.

My watch tells time, charges its' battery from light, syncs with broadcast time signals, and had multiple stopwatch functions. My phone can do the rest.
