DraftKings, FanDuel no longer available in NY
Following a witch hunt by New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman, daily fantasy giants DraftKings and FanDuel are officially shut down in the state.

The settlement between the sites and the AG bans New York bettors from adding funds to their accounts and from using existing funds to place any bets. The ban is in effect until September, when the appeal for daily fantasy sports legality is scheduled to be heard.

If the companies lose their appeal, then all lawsuits and future appeals will be dropped and the AG also agrees to drop any claims, reads the settlement.

Both sites are now geoblocking and IP blocking all New York residents, just like it does for all other "closed states."

AG Schneiderman added: "I'm pleased to announced that both FanDuel and DraftKings will stop taking bets in New York State, consistent with New York State law and the cease-and-desist orders my office issued at the outset of this matter. As I've said from the start, my job is to enforce the law, and starting today, DraftKings and FanDuel will abide by it. Today's agreement also creates an expedited path to resolve this litigation should that law change or upon a decision by the appellate division. Regardless, our key claims against the companies for false advertising and consumer fraud are not affected by the agreement and will continue."

I got one word and three letters for this.

    Word is TOR

    and letters are VPN

I do agree with this. Those betting sites are scams and the employees working for them get first pick at "insider" stuff.

I do believe in Caveat Emptor too and frankly, buyer beware is the mantra to this for the most part but in all reality, these sites are more often than not, screw sites!

As for New Yorkers that might potentially complain over this..........I'm preemptively stating STFU and deal with it!

What "insider" stuff would that be? You have to pick players, and no one, even the employees (who are not permitted to play on their own sites) can predict which players outperform others. There are too many variables, such as weather, fatigue, injury, etc. Furthermore, the top two sites have different salaries for the players you choose and Fan Duel requires one additional position that Draft Kings doesn't. They are Coke and Pepsi in the simplest of terms.

You might see which players are the most owned, and choose those that aren't, but that's not a real advantage either. Those players are least owned because they don't play a lot, etc. Choosing those players is like gambling on the worst horse at the track, just because it has the biggest potential payout.

It's much like saying online poker was a scam too. Reality is, just like with the piracy arguments, the big guy isn't getting their "cut." That's not true at all, as most people playing DFS aren't going to travel to Vegas to place bets in the first place.

But we are talking about New York, which is quickly spiraling into big brother status with bans on this and soda.
