Almost 20 million Netflix users are about to see a price increase
An estimated 20 million Netflix subscribers are about to see their monthly price increase.

Since last year, many longtime subscribers have been grandfathered at $7.99 per month, but that price is set to go up to $9.99 per month beginning on May 8th.

A recent survey showed that 80 percent of affected Netflix users had no idea their prices were going up, at all, so this is a good PSA to those that are currently paying $7.99 per month.

No matter, there is little to complain about for the price, thanks to hits like Daredevil, Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.

I'm glad I stopped using this useless service long ago.

    $9.99 is extremely cheap still.

I know I'm crazy, but I find having 2 series "Malcolm in the Middle" and "30 Rock" available anytime I want, plus "Peaky Blinders", "Kimmy Schmidt" etc. is worth $10 = for now! And you know what? I've dwnlded and brnt all those shows ~ So what! If I want to 'binge watch' it's easier. Call me part of the pbx, but I pay $100 for Amazon, and still haven't figured out if it's worth it. Ha ha.

It doesn't specifically say that I can find, but most legacy countries that got the service first will be having a price increase. For some it's not even going to be in May, it all depends on what it says under your account. Check under user account settings and current plan - it will tell you there how long your price point is in effect for the service. Should you have difficulty finding the settings in Netflix, just google it and it will link you to it if you are already logged in Netflix.

$9.99 eh? I stopped using Netflix years ago when the started charging a premium for their services. $9.99 is for Netflix's limited services where movies come and go. $9.99 is only the beginning. If you want local programming, various sports channels etc. things start adding up. Doesn't really make sense for me to cut the cable when if you add thing up streaming exceeds the price of cable. I will continue to purchase or rent Blu-Ray movies. I don't need to stream entertainment everywhere I go.

    Ummm........really?

10 for Netflix, 10 for Hulu, 10 for Amazon, 10 for Spotify, 10 for streaming services to phone, plus any other little "extremely cheap" monthly services.

Now, I'm sure your comment was hinged on the notion that 9.99 is cheap for Netflix alone, but most don't have that alone.

2 buck increase for 20million cust. 40 million EXTRA in the first month alone.

Also, upping the monthly charge by 2 bucks is a 25% increase. THAT'S HIGHWAY ROBBERY!

I find that having to pay a couple bucks more per month well worth it! I've loved Netflix and I've had it since it's beginning.

I still think it's the best service of it's kind on the 'net!

What the hell is one person doing with all that crap anyway? Get off of their fat asses and get active. All a person needs is one or 2 of those services at most. I say 3 if you can easily afford it.

As I mentioned in the past, I'm tired of Netflix increasing their prices while still taking things away from us.

If you remember we use get to stream and rent as many DVD's you wanted by selecting 1 at a time for only $9.99, then they removed the DVD offer and the price went to $7.99. Now they are going back to $9.99... well then give me my DVD rental package back. I only liked the DVD rental because of new releases or movies they wouldn't offer in streaming.

Everyone hear is saying oh 2 bucks is not a big deal but if you give in so easy, then when does it stop. What will it take for you guys to say the price is getting too high. I presume some people will say I'm willing to pay $14.99 a month to stream. Wait it will eventually increase to $10.99 or $11.99 in the next 1-2 years and so on.

My good neighbor works at Netflix and I use Neflix once in awhile, while my wife is Netflix junky and watches it all the time. I'm just tired of the price changes again, while still not offering much to the value.
