KGI: Apple will gain up to 7 million switchers due to Galaxy Note7 debacle
According to longtime Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the Cupertino giant will be a huge beneficiary of the Galaxy Note7 explosion-gate, gaining as many as 7 million switchers.

For those who haven't been following, Samsung's new Galaxy Note7 had faulty wiring and batteries that caused the phone to literally explode, and the company has issued a recall for over 12 million devices and frozen production for the time being. All carriers have also offered full refunds and free exchanges for any consumer with the device.

Kuo estimates that up to 7 million Note7 buyers will eventually convert to iPhone 7 sales, with the majority moving to the iPHone 7 Plus due to its size and dual cameras.

Of course, it is impossible to predict the future and Google's new Pixel devices could take some of switchers, but we won't know for sure until each of the companies report earnings next quarter.

Coming from what looks like a apple website?

Once you go Android... why would you ever consider going back to Apple?
Android is more than just Samsung.

In any case I am happy with my S7 Edge.

    I can answer this one.

While I hate Apple products, they are more secure than Android by LEAPS AND BOUNDS.

The OS is more stable and not prone to brutal slow downs after 6 months like ALL Androids are doing.

Easier to learn, less cluttered, more user-friendly. Better build quality!!!!!!!!!

Android is not like blacks.......so once you go Android, doesn't necessarily mean you won't go back (or just go to) Apple.

I never had security problems in Android. Since this is an open source OS, you should stick to downloading high rated apps only from Play Store, and you should be fine.
I have never had slow down issue either once I realized I should get an Android system with a good amount of RAM. Android is a RAM dependent OS. 3 GB or more should do (mine has 3).
Android is extremely user-friendly, the learning is nominal here. And when one compares the build quality, one should consider equally priced systems. For example, iPhone 7 should be compared to Galaxy Edge 7, and not to a cheap Nexus!
I would be surprised if people decide to switch to iPhone just because of the Note 7 disaster. Edge 7 is still more capable than iPhone 7. Note 7 had the stylus advantage and a bit larger screen only over Edge 7 (either of them can't be had in iPhone anyway).

Actually, the evidence goes the other way...no iPhone has ever been approved by the state department, some Android phones have. Plus there is the whole "FBI has a way to break the encryption that they got from some random hacker" thing. Android phones generally don't come with data encryption turned on, but you can get free, open source encryption apps that are as good as the best stuff you would find in any data center.

iOS isn't very stable; it not only requires frequent reboots but it also has a tendency to have serious issues up to and including bricking during updates. Also, they do get serious slow-downs; I have personally seen iPhones that took over a minute just to turn on the screen because of too many apps installed. Android can get similar slow-downs, although Android does seem to be better about killing things that are totally stopping the device from functioning. Lesson: just because you have 32GB internal storage, don't fill it with apps you don't use, no matter who made your phone.

And yeah, those $40 androids from China are crap. But don't forget that Apple had two models in a row (plus the s versions) that bent if you put them in your pocket, the second of them having an issue with the touchscreen, and the model before those two didn't work if you were "holding it wrong". Apple isn't known for high build quality by anyone who has been paying attention; they have even had their share of battery explosions...never recalled of course; Apple doesn't do recalls; they never even recalled that computer that would wipe drives whenever the speaker was used.

Ugh.........time for some discrediting of some of your response:

Android accepted FIRST before Apple simply because "However, the government chose to work on Android first because Google already allows people to tinker freely with its code, said those working on the project" Read up. http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/03/tech/mobi...android-phones/

NOT BECAUSE IT'S MORE SECURE! You are incorrect in this approach.

IOS is MUCH MORE stable than COMPARED to Android. Your argument is simply your opinion. Mine is fact..from YEARS of support and personal use of each. IN GENERAL, IOS is more stable than Android!

IPhone is wayyyyyy easier to learn to the AVERAGE TECHNO-MORON! AV-ER-AGE! Your answer is totally bias.

IPhones are wayyyyyy less cluttered with bloatware. The Apple store is safer having only APPROVED apps that keep the OS running rather smoothly over time. Your argument states "little less bloatware on SOME Androids"........."Some" wouldn't hold up in court of anyone's opinion.

"User Friendly" is not a measurement of people's kindness so STFU on this point. Can't believe I dignified this with a response. You and EVERY FREE THINKING PERSON will agree on this definition.

The Galaxy 3 and 4 and 5 were CRAP BUILD QUALITY. Plastic everywhere. Chincy and easily damaged. JUNK. Samsung mills crap out. The HTC.....yes, that's comparable to the IPhone. So are the Sony Xperias but those are 2 not-very-sought-after phone makers.

    Man.........Killerbug....expected more substance from you.

I'm no Samsung fan myself; although for other reasons (reasons I also dislike Apple). There is nothing wrong with plastic...it doesn't dent, it comes back when bent instead of creasing, etc...but of course if you want aluminium for some reason, Android still has you covered.

When I talked about user friendly, that was a metaphor. A device that simply isn't capable of doing what I want to do (at least not without jailbreaking, and even then sometimes not) is the same as a person who won't talk to me like an adult.

Apple includes a ton of bloatware on their phones...there is the useless maps app, weather, news, wallet, notes, reminders, stocks, ibooks, itunes, health, facetime, podcasts, a COMPASS, the two "find" apps, voice memos, and the garbage for the watch. Even if you want any of those things, there are better versions available for free (other than the watch app...no one has figured out a way to make the Apple Watch work all day, let alone work well). And yeah...Samsung loads their phones with similar garbage, but I'm not talking about Samsung when I say Android; I'm talking about Motorola because they are owned by Google, who created Android. If Apple licensed iOS to someone else, you wouldn't say that the products from that company represented Apple. If a Dell mainboard dies, you don't blame Microsoft because of Windows. The Apple "Approval" process is one of the reasons Apple is so bad; they block things because China doesn't like them, they block things because they are free and compete with paid apps, and they let through paid apps with terrible and obvious problems because as long as they are paid, Apple gets a cut.

In the end, the difference between Android (as an entire ecosystem including all manufacturers) and iOS is a matter of freedom. Lock someone in a rubber room and it makes it hard for them to hurt themselves...let someone walk free and they might get hit by a car, robbed, etc. By your logic it is better to be locked in that room because you will live a long, healthy life...on a day that you got hit by a car on the outside that would certainly be appealing. My logic is that if someone locked me in that room, I'd rather be dead...and every day things happen that make me appreciate my freedom.

BTW...I don't think Android is anywhere close to ideal...it is just the less bad of the two leading options. If I had my way, android would be a lot closer to a traditional linux distro, drivers would be open source, and you wouldn't have to root because that would just be the default. For that matter, I'd remove all the google stuff (you could still get it, it just wouldn't come with the phone).

Your words are not facts either, IMHO, opinions only.
Android is based on Linux which, in turn, is based on Unix. iOS is based on Unix, too. The only difference is the former is an open source, and the latter is a closed one (read: walled garden). The fact is that any open source software needs to be used with a little caution (like I said before, with an AV guard, with careful downloads from Play Store, and not from any 3rd party store). On the other hand, iOS has whole bunch of limitations. 1st major one is the inability to play videos with modern codecs and containers (try playing HEVC or x265 or MKV files or many others. DTS?). Any whatsapp audio sent by somebody can't be downloaded to PC/Mac. NFC is limited to payment only. You name it.
And, I agree to KillerBug in that the iOS sometimes gives trouble after update, which is recently experienced by my wife. The lockscreen was taking time to come to homescreen after entering the PIN.
Security through obscurity...and this is exactly what Apple does.
After the delusion is over, most corporates are now allowing employees to use Android phones. All banks now encourage using Android apps. If Android had a security issue in general, it wouldn't happen.
And, Android is not all about the Android leader Samsung. There are so many companies which make quality Android phones, you just need to pay extra to get a quality, capable Android phone (much less expensive than iPhone though).
