Microsoft abandoned VR plans for Xbox One
If you are waiting for a VR headset for Xbox One, you will be disappointed in Microsoft.

According to Mike Nichols, chief markering officer for gaming at Microsoft, the Redmond-based giant has no plans specific to Xbox One in the virtual reality and mixed reality spaces. He revealed as much in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz.

The revelation comes in contrast to past comments by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who said the firm planned to integrate VR into Xbox One X.

"We don't have any plans specific to Xbox consoles in virtual reality or mixed reality," Nichols said.

"Our perspective on it has been and continues to be that the PC is probably the best platform for more immersive VR and MR. As an open platform, it just allows faster, more rapid iteration."

Sony's rival PlayStation VR sales didn't match the levels the Japanese consumer electronics firm expected, maybe prompting Microsoft to halt development of VR on their consoles for now.

Microsoft isn't even developing VR for PC; Windows Mixed Reality is so absurdly broken when it is working...and then it stops working with Windows updates that have nothing to do with it, sometimes for something as silly as an Office update failing to install because the component being updated isn't installed in the first place. They don't even know what their own error codes mean half the time. So yeah...don't bring that to a console.

Yeah.....and VR isn't a "fad" at all because everyone everywhere is engaged in VR....NOT.

Been saying it for a year now, VR is a total fad. While it will likely be a success for medical WAYYYYY down the road, it's just not practical or viable at all right now. Oculus is a P.O.S. and expensive and heavy with limited content TO THE EXTREME rendering this rather useless. VIVE too.........a bigger P.O.S. that is even more expensive and even heavier while duping the public into trying its way more expensive and lame assed "pro" version. Ick!

The sub-399.00 headsets have yet to find a place or become mainstream.

    FAD!
