Ad Hoc Networking

An Ad Hoc network is a decentralized type of wireless network that does not use a router or established wireless base.

"Ad Hoc" is the Latin term for "for this purpose."

Networks can be easily created with an Ethernet crossover cable, or using internal/external wireless cards. Ad Hoc networks are mainly used for file transfers between small groups.

Ad Hocs are basically just temporary versions of LANs.
