In Europe, ETSI is the recognized regional standards body dealing with telecommunications, broadcasting and other electronic communications networks and services, and it produces standards and specifications supporting EU and EFTA policy issues. ETSI is driving standards work on Next Generation Networks and is at the epicenter of development work on common IMS Long Term Evolution (LTE) and SAE (System Architecture Equipment).
It promotes work on the standards through its Technical Committee TISPAN and its partnership with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
