Viaccess PC2.6 is a
Conditional Access System developed by
France Telecom and released for use in 2005. It is sometimes refered to as
Viacess 3. It is one of five
Viaccess systems currently in wide use around the world to protect
Digital Media Broadcast (DMB) content from unauthorized viewing by non-subscribers. Like its predecessor,
Viaccess PC2.5, the Viaccess PC2.6 system has remained secure ever since it was introduced in 2005. The
Viaccess PC2.3 and
Viaccess PC2.4 are still in use, but are considered insure as software modifications for set-top boxes allow for the viewing of Viaccess content without paying for it.
Viaccess PC2.6 would be followed by the next major upgrade to the security system, called
Viaccess PC3.0.
