MPAA's CEO plans to resign in January?
According to industry sources, MPAA's president of 38 years, 82-year-old Jack Valenti plans to leave his $1M-a-year job in January.

He has already hinted that he wants to find a successor for his post and according to people familiar with the issue, best candidate at the moment would be a Republican congressman, 60-year-old W.J. "Billy" Tauzin (R-La.).

Valenti would most likely continue as a chairman of the movie industry's most powerful lobbying organization and would also continue to oversee the movie ratings system.

No wonder these MPAA and the like are so annoying and cranky. They're run by old people....

When you are on your deathbed, you will wonder, "Did I waste my life? Was it worth spending all that time on that?" Do not despair, no one has wasted their life. After all, you can only waste something if you throw it away. And you can't throw life away.

Uh... A congressman? Doesn't that set up an automatic conflict of intrest between the movie industry and the public? Congressmen are ELECTED by the PUBLIC to represent the PUBLIC if I'm thinking correctly...

We mustn't lower ourselves to the level of those we loathe, lest we become loathsome ourselves.
