Major Alcohol 120% updates

Alcohol Soft has released couple of updates recently, latest being yesterday with a few bug fixes. But the update before that, from 24th of March deserves a heads-up - sorry for two weeks late with this.

In case you didn't know, Alcohol 120% is the market leading 1:1 disc duplicator, which can handle almost every type of CD protection. It combines powerful features in a neatly laid out and easy to use user interface.



The recent updates really bring this piece of software back to frontline of recording softwares. First of all, there is the Dual Layer support for both DVD-R and DVD+R. It brings the supported drives up-to-date, with 16x drives and media included. There is also a bitsetting feature, to set the book-type of a RW disc to DVD-ROM. Alcohol Soft also promises that the reading and writing engines are improved.

  This is great! Definately a good thing to add in the DL support, what with the new dvd burners and stuff on store shelves now!

  I'm not sure exactly how you could improve on the old reading and writing engine, but i'm eager to find out.

  You now have to activate your Alcohol online! I hope that they never go down, or we are totally screwed! Just like 321 Studios. Why do manufacturers have to make jackasses of us all of the time?

  What if Alcohol goes the same way as 321? This is a bad move. It really bites. The DL support was in the last upgrade several weeks ago venom! I bought mine online. What would I do? I doubt that the boxed version would let you do that any way. They are trying to stop people from giving it to their mates. Putting the code on the box would not do that!
