Microsoft is reinforcing its game development squad for the upcoming battle of next-generation consoles against Sony and Nintendo. The representatives of Microsoft claim that Lionhead will not be pressured at all, and will have free hand to develop games for Xbox 360 and most likely for upcoming Windows Vista. "Peter is willing to take a risk and do things differently. We will support that," said Peter Moore, the head of Microsoft gaming division.
Both Peter Molyneux and Microsoft seem happy for the co-operation and look forward in bringing innovative games to the market. "We are excited that we are going to be in a position to create incredible games," said Molyneux. After laying off 50 people, fifth of staff, last month, this must be a relief for the founder of god game genre. The Microsoft wasn't the only one interested in Lionhead, also games industry giants, such as Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, reported interest.
Neither Molyneux, Lionhead or Microsoft haven't revealed any upcoming games from this alliance, but it is likely that Lionhead will produce a sequel to multi-million selling Fable for Xbox.
