Grand Theft Auto IV SE for $90

Grand Theft Auto IV SE for $90
Offering special editions of games for a higher price is already being done frequently with next-gen consoles. For example, the Legendary Edition of Halo 3 will sell for a whopping $129.99. Many hardcore gamers will definitely pay the extra price for the more expensive Halo editions and you could argue that the following for the Grand Theft Auto brand would do exactly the same - even Rockstar thinks so.

A special edition of Grand Theft Auto IV will cost $89.99, $30 more than the regular edition at $59.99. For the extra fee, customers will get extra goodies which include a limited edition Rockstar duffel bag and book which contains production artwork from the game, and also a soundtrack CD. All of the goodies will come inside another goodie... a fully lockable metal safety deposit box.

The bundle will contain a special keychain to access the lockbox. Both versions of the highly-anticipated game will go on sale in North America on October 16th and then in Europe three days later. It is set in during the present day and Rockstar has promised the soundtrack will contain "new material from top artists available only on this release."

That don't sound bad. When I first looked at the article and the price of the game I was like damn they tripping now. As long as you getting extra stuff then its worth the price especially if the game is worth it. That would be a complete waste if people spend all that money on the special edition versions and the don't live up to the expectations.

The only 100$ game I ever bought was back in the SNES day I bought Final Fantasy 3 for 110$ and 30 of it was for overnight shipping!

No game made now a days is worth above 90,most of the SEs that keep to under 80 are alright but still not really worth it.

for the 30 more, I could buy a used collectors ed of another game *L*

i will stick with the $60 game but the collectors addition come with some pretty good things and if your a hardcore GTA fan go ahead and get the collectors addition if not then go grab the regular thing

    i think it's a waste of money.

a duffel bag? someone plays a game that encourages violence, sex, etc. and rockstar feels theses are the same people who need a duffel bag?
I actually just got into this game about a month ago and I love it but I don't think I need a duffel bag. maybe for putting prostitutes heads in.

I buy a game to play the game, not for extra artwork, a duffel bag, or a cd that can be obtained for free through numerous venues.

This so-called "Special Edition" is just another way for videogame companies to absorb the increasing costs of producing a game. Look at Halo 3: $130 for a silly helmet???!! What do they expect me to do with that?? Oh right, im supposed to put it on a shelf in plain view so all my friends can see it and be envious. What would I do if i saw that at someone else's house?? I would think, "Wow, I have the same game and an extra $50+ in my wallet. HA!"

I hope rock star will put the damn Adult rating on the special edition, and give us some hot coffee. XD

I have my game boxs on display but I find the normal release to be better looking than the tins, sad aint it?

I dunno Halo 3 seems to be ok but not great enough for me to kill 130 on it I might tag a SE for 50 if its complete and on sale tho :P

But for the most part you are right its just another marketing scam to drain gamers of their money.

  • faqman98

all that this is, is just a marketing scheme where no one is because just 'cuz a CE is released doesn't mean u have to belly ache about it just buy the regular and be done with it 'cuz no one is forcing u to buy jack they are just making shwag for the gamers that don't have any better way to spend their money exept on video games

No not at all. Youre happy with the game you bought and also satisfied that the "regular" box art looks better anyway.

Theres nothing wrong with having game boxes out to show what you have, but when it has to be all the "special edition" boxes, i mean cmon, NO ONE ELSE CARES!!! :)

Any price under $100 is reasonable as long as the goodies are present. Thisa is the appeal with special edition DVD box sets.
