Palm Pre coming in May?

Palm Pre coming in May?
Palm Pre, the latest in a long line of "iPhone Killers", is set to be one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year.

The Pre, which has a rounded shape, a 3.1-inch touchscreen, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and uses a powerful interface to "pull together information, photos and current online status data from sites such as Facebook, Gmail and Exchange to seamlessly integrate them into the address book and contacts list," has been highly anticipated since its debut at this year's CES but Palm has yet to reveal pricing or a release date.

The smartphone will be coming exclusively to Sprint and Sprint may have let some vital information slip, according to Brighthand. Sprint employees have been granted no vacation time in the month of May, and the source says the expected release date is May 17. If the smartphone misses that date, then the release date will be June 29th, right before Palm's own self-imposed deadline for release.

Why can't a company make an iPhone killer that's like, CHEAP. Like WTF, how the hell do you expect to beat out a phone if it's more expensive and has the same features more or less? The only real iPhone killer I see out is the LG Dare because it's nice AND cheap.

The only real way to kill the iphone is to match its capability (or exceed it) AND be available on more networks. Everyone knows someone who has said "I'd like an iphone but don't like AT&T". A lot of blackberries are multi carrier but are too business oriented for me (and others?).

LOOOL! F'ing Nigerian cyber-thieves. I had someone try to take me from there too.

Anyway, about the article. "a long line of iPhone killers." Yes, failed, lame attempts at killing is more like it. Companies need to realize, you can't package something up that looks like an iPhone at first glance and has some limited functionality and very poor firmwares and expect the truth not to come out eventually. Sprint is becoming known (by me) for failed attempts at making a decent phone (HTC?) in recent years. I can almost guarantee this will be another.

I've had top-of-the-line Sprint phones for the last 5 years or so, and every single one of them feels "experimental." I want a finished product for Christ sake! I'm sick of waiting for firmware that never comes and when it finally does arrive, it being a total let-down. The last firmware update for my HTC Diamond disabled Caller-ID!! Why? Because I have my Information displayed on startup in case I lose my phone someone can contact me. Well, now I have to disable that so I can see who is calling. Lame.

why cant something e an iphone killer? the iphone doesn't do anything that my old ass treo 650 did 3-4 years ago! It just has a "prettier" interface than the old windows 3.x like interface of palm! I still find my palm very easy to get threw & i can use it with 1 hand! I detest Windows Mobile with fancy touch overlays that don't work! You are not an iphone so don't try with a half ass interface. Hey i don't hate the iphone for all of you who have one & love it well great! I am just fine here with my $50 Palm Centro! that was on a faster network 1st, plays music, has removable memory and battery, checks email, txts, n so on! the only thing your iphone will do that my centro wont is Wifi but i have NEVER been in a place that has WIFI but no EVOD! (pst Sprint EVDO is faster than AT&T 3G)I am an old school palm fan, i don't care for their windows versions & really hope this works out for them! They are a whole new company nw & if it doesn't they may just totally crash the rest fo the way!
