iPhone jailbreaking on the rise

iPhone jailbreaking on the rise
According to JAIB, via figures from PinchMedia, the percentage of iPhone users that are using jailbroken phones is on the rise, moving from 7 percent to 8.43 percent from June to the end of July.

Also notably, the percentage of sessions from jailbroken iPhones increased to 6.65 percent from 6.2 percent.

The quick rise could possibly be attributed to the recent denial from the App Store of the Google Voice Mobile app last week, which led to developer Sean Kovacs putting the app up for free on Cydia, the software application store available to jailbroken iPhone/Touch users.

Another reason for jailbreaking is the extremely overpriced phone plans provided by AT&T. Their cheapest plan comes out to almost $100 after "taxes and other fees".

One can switch to T-Mobile for a similar plan that costs much less.

They are jailbroken because priportatiory hardware sucks.

Open it up a bit and let consumes make more options!

They are jailbroken because people want to make phone calls, and AT&T's crummy network cannot offer this to them.

And because people want to run things that the crap apps store refuses to approve anything unless it's at+t or apple made.. and if it's your bloody phone why shouldn't you put anything you want on it??

Anyway.. useless sucky phones.. no signal where my nokia will show 4 bars.

Free open source software = made by end users who want an application to work.

Are you sure it is the phone and not the network? My POS samsung phones gets 4 out of 5 bars where iPhones only get roaming, but that is because I don't use AT&T.

My iPhone is jailbroken so i can put the 3rd party apps on my phone as i should be allowed to do... I have no complaints about the phone either... No signal issues, no call drops, nothing.... I don't know what everyone's issue is....

my iphone gets better att signal than any phone i've seen.
fails at finding the network though; takes forever.

at&t does suck for charging way too much and not having enough 3g coverage.

the finding network thing actually works for me great on other at&t phones.
works good on this iphone when i'm on 3g.
problem is at&t seems to have mostly only edge coverage where i go.
it's like a big deal for those around me when we slip into 3g areas.
all the people i know with cdma carriers got their 3g everywhere.

i could try tmobile, but come on...in this country? really?
maybe they turned on support for os 3.0 mms, because at&t still hasn't.

You are doing better than some...there are a few places here in Tampa, FL where the buildings average over 3 stories, yet there is no signal on AT&T! It's easy to blame AT&T for this, but the blame should lie with Apple, for locking it's phone to a network that is known to be of low quality.
