The Pirate Bay is back, after Swedish take down

The Pirate Bay is back, after Swedish take down
Yesterday, the large public torrent tracker The Pirate Bay was taken down by Swedish police, and many users believed it was the end of the site, for good.

Today however, TPB admins have re-opened the site using a new ISP, with the tracker itself expected to be back up soon as well.

In re-opening the site, the Pirate Bay team has also posted a statement that uses one of Winston Churchill's famous World War II speeches. It may be over the top, but their message is pretty clear.

The speech:

"We have, ourselves, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once more able to defend our Internets, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.

Even though large parts of Internets and many old and famous trackers have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Ifpi and all the odious apparatus of MPAA rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the ef-nets and darknets, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Internets, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the baywords.org, we shall fight on the /. and on the digg, we shall fight in the courts; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, the Internets or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the Anon Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in Cerf’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

Signed;

The Pirate Bay Crew – Now until needed."

So I invent a crime.. then illegally find you guilty of it.. and fine you millions.. what would you do to pay it? .. oh yeah.. sell your assets if you can.

One day you will grow up and get your own home and job andresponsibilities.. that day you will see that the world isn't black and white.. everybody has a price (ask ANY politician.. or better still try inventing a law that gives your business an illegally unfair advantage over other business models.. and you will find out for real that everybody has a price.. everybody!!!
If they think they can get away with taking money through the back door to take away rights and liberties for the benefit of their paymasters they will.. that's the facts of life.. it sucks but that's how it works for now until we get together and tear it all down.

Oh that old chesnut they made millions. Where's your proof then? Cause the swedish government did not find any money trail. So what, you know where the money is? Listen once again there never was a sale on any table whatsoever. The company GGF never had and doesn't have the funds to buy a cheeseburger at Mcdonalds. Its all a charade.

You say that with enough resources, you could do the same? What do you mean resources, hardware and the likes? You are totally delusional and have no knowledge of how a large torrent site including it's tracker works. If you did then you would take your hat off and give respect to the folks that run them(not only TPB, every good admin out there)

Quote:go patronize someone else with your so called wisdom. quote your books to someone who cares You obviously care, cause you replied to my post.
Anyway I think your parents are calling you, to tell you to switch off your computer and get to sleep as you have school in the morning.

I remember watching a short film about them talking about their legal battles and a bit about what they were doing. They stated in the film, they offered to sell TPB to the MPaffia, giving full and total control, but they refused their offer.

But come on TPB were goading the cartels into a reality. The reality, digital media is worthless, as in keep it live!!!
The mob could be setting up their own tracker and be reaping the rewards from ad POWER, but alas they don't get it.
If it's good then we will buy it, end of story. Give rights to the artist for once and for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I could some the whole argument with this...

Those with money, power, or both like to see the world in shades of grey when it comes to what they do that is until something threatens their money, power, or both then it suddenly becomes a black and white subject for them. It's a do as I say not as I do world!

Sorry for the silly question, but is the site safe to use now? Can I still download torrents and not worry about getting caught?
    Thanks

If you mean non-copyrighted/public domain material than yes, as always.
If you're downloading any other types of files than no, as always. :p

In other words, if you have done the latter than it's likely you've been watched and logged(by some form of antiP2P)from the beginning. As have most.

THEY DO NOT GET ANY OF THAT MONEY... they set up the site so that they could not make any profit off of it by selling it. I can't remember the link to the interview. So your just going to have to trust me on that. :P Google around I am sure you will find it.

Hey gopher! (fitting name) you can dump on the Bay all you want but you will get rightly flamed in return. You can't grasp the enorimity of what they have been doing.
