DSi XL confirmed for Europe following DSi LL release

Nintendo has confirmed that following today's launch of the updated DSi LL handheld in Japan, the same system, just dubbed the DSi XL will hit Europe in the Q1 2010.

The updated system includes a 4.2-inch screen, dual pens and better battery life then the DSi.



"Nintendo today confirms that a new Nintendo DSi XL console is launching in Europe in the first quarter of 2010," says the gaming company. "The retail price of the Nintendo DSi XL is expected to be higher than that of the Nintendo DSi. Further details will be released soon."

The handheld retails for the equivalent of $220 USD in Japan.

  I don't understand where all the bitching is coming from regarding this... It's just an alternative for people who want a bigger screen, or for people like me who have stupidly large mits. It's not like the PSP-3000, with no real big changes from it's "Predecessor".
  
  As I didn't get a DSi, this will be my "Upgrade", though I'll miss the GBA... I guess I'll be taking the Lite with me, too...

  You can get a used PS3 for that kind of money! And the screens may be bigger, but the resolution is the same, so the image quality is even worse than the old version.

  I'd like to point out that the $220 price tag is with the current conversion rates... The Dollar is in the toilet now.
  ￥18,900 was the going rate for the DSi at launch, while this is ¥20,000. It's literally a $10 difference.
  
  At the time of the DSi's launch, ￥18,900 was only about $180, while now it's more than $200.

  Why would they? It won't be coming stateside for at least a few months, for now it's just within Japan.
  
  One Yen is still one Yen in Japan, the DSi is still selling for ￥18,900 even if the dollar is quickly falling to the worth of toilet tissue. What, every time the exchange rate from CAD to USD takes a dip in our favor we lower the prices of our systems? No... It's the same price in that region.
