Cablevision subscribers get their Fox network signals back
News Corp. returned their Fox signal to Cablevision subscribers last night, just in time to watch Game 3 of the World Series.

Both companies have agreed "in principle" on a new deal over retransmission fees, and Cablevision subscribers now have their Fox, Fox Deportes, NatGeo Wild and My 9 channels back.

The signals had been blacked out since October 16th, when negotiations between the companies hit a wall.

News Corp. was asking for $150 million in retransmission fees, more than Cablevision pays for ABC, NBC and CBS combined.

Terms of the new deal were not disclosed.

Well, I guess it was a good thing that during the time no Family Guy episodes were airing. Next one is not until the 14th.

Terrible...simply terrible. They probably had to agree to carry a few of the Fox brainwashing channels in order to rebroadcast a signal that their customers could already get by antenna.

They should send out a letter to their customers saying something like, "As you may know, fox cut off your signals...etc...anyway, we caved and are now paying them about $3 per customer. If you would like to keep receiving fox, there will be a $3 surcharge added to your bill. If you do not want fox, there will be a $1 monthly credit applied to your bill."

Please allow me to repeat a previous post of mine:
Quote:Cablevision was manipulating. Fox was bullying. Neither company was operating in the public's interest, however expecting them to do so is grossly naive. Their motivation is profit, nothing wrong with that; all companies must profit.
The FCC is correct; this really is none of their business, nor should it be.
The only blame goes to the consumer who is paying the money to make this happen. Stop paying for subscription content, or stop complaining.
