'Anonymous' threatens action against Federal Reserve

'Anonymous' threatens action against Federal Reserve
The 'Anonymous' group of hackers has promised action against the Federal Reserve and its chairman Ben Bernanke in a video dubbed "Ctrl+Alt+Bernanke."

If it comes to fruition, the action will be called "Operating Empire State Rebellion."

You can read the full text of the video here or watch it below.

The operation is set to begin today, but so far the Fed's site seems to be working without any issues.

Anonymous is said to be behind high profile attacks in multiple nations, and behind attacks on Sony/PSN and more.

It'll make a great movie title...

    Live Free or Die Stupid...

Just what do you hope to gain by entering the Federal Reserve!?! I'm sure there's a joke in here, but haven't all those been done already?

    And this is news HOW???????

One would be a blind idiot to not know that these acts happen on SOME SCALE. There's just nothing anyone anywhere can do except overthrow a government..........which I would LOVE TO SEE IN THE U.S.

It is news because they grew a pair and essentially told people to overthrow the government. I am 99% sure that the government will use this as an excuse to label Anonymous as a terrorist organization that needs to be stomped out, and then congress will happily give the letter organizations more powers that they don't need because now a "terrorist" organization not affiliated with the US government was shown to be inside the country.

Anonymous is a decentralized group with more than a million members if not more. with no name, no address, no connection amongst themselves. a seal team or a strike force the size of the Chinese army is not going to do them any good.

The federal reserve has been invited to the masquerade ball. it would be rude for them to turn down such a generous offer, don't you agree?

the federal reserve is a nasty little creature that needs to be squashed, its only purpose is to create and artificial economic crisis among the united state citizens and the fact it operates outside the prying eyes of the public and doesn't take orders and disclose information to and from the commander in chief or any of his affiliates is cause for concern in itself. its all a little to convenient.

Wooo... That's a new one on me. I know they don't want the public to have any knowledge of a damn thing they do whatsoever, but complete anonymity from the president as well? Not to mention total Carte Blanche movement without the slightest hint of some kind of public outcry or uprising in how many years?

Not that I want to be too skeptical or push a detonator onto a "conspiracy" missile, but what did I miss? I'm familiar with the Federal Reserve, but only in name; thus a misconception with relation to that name. Is there a "reputable" site for more information. At the moment this was all I got link, it appears that it was just the senate house at the moment.

I kinda got a tight-butthole when you said Bethesda because I was in the military & we had a scare a while back when an idiot lost a couple hundred thousand vets social security numbers.

I'll let AfterDawn do the reporting, but the link does a good job of telling the story. Obviously the Senate isn't going to let on that personal information got published or that any secrets left the building, but as always I'll let you make your assumptions from there.

@DXR88 its the ones doing the attacking posting vids that they will catch in the end. if you think they have endless members your a bit naive.

  • LordRuss

@DXR88... Not that I want to claim that I have a stink head, but I certainly wish to be armed with proper knowledge rather than conjecture.

You're right, schools getting $1,000 computers & multi-million dollar buildings erected at a whim is certainly shite when contradicted with an inability to pay good teachers or keep students from behaving like Nazis.

Then there was this demand by the US banks for several billions of dollars with no reason for why, no declaration when it will be paid back and that the tax payers will pay for it and that there will be no questions asked. Yeah, that isn't conspiracy, we all watched that happen, but my fear is the subsequent information to follow that has the high potential to make my dick itch & fall off from sheer stupidity is all.

So long as the information has a logical order I can handle it (even if it is of an illogical nature), just don't let it be from some jerks obstruction from a diverticulitis operation. Then we'll have a whole new herd of idiots out there that "think" they know what their talking about.

Anonymous has reason to attack the Federal Reserve, I am wondering why. I'm not a subject matter expert. Entertainment, Military, some electronics, I can comment... Politics, religion & some of the federal inner workings are foreign to me, it's the reason I asked.

Thus; last we heard Anon went from Sony, now to the Federal Reserve. That's a big ass jump in my book. I'm just wondering why, "without" the conspiracy, they would make a huge leap like that as I thought the FR had something to do with money. Not to mention the fact that the Feds will now see them as terrorists which dictates anyone hitting a government server had better be wearing Kevlar underwear.

In this particular subject matter I will most definitely bow to error and admit I may be wrong, but an education is never wasted.

So please DVDBack23, there was no harm or foul meant here.

I come on here to read about techie things and to see other peoples opinions, no matter if I agree with them or not. To have an administrator threaten some what (Killerbug has a lot of opinions and if it doesn't have to do with software he usually is idiotic in thought but his opinion nonetheless). For an administrator to tell someone they can't express their well thought out opinion because they don't approve is crazy. This low budget site should be proud that you have anyone willing to share their opinion. I am in no way affiliated with the Lord guy so dont penalize him because he seems to care but I dontand with that being said, go somewhere and get a real job and suck off chump. many of the older members often mess with the moderators, and of course they mess around right back. after all mods are people too...or are they..mmm...i must meditate on this not long enough to have a conclusion(because that would be bad)...but a theory that i can then turn into a conspiracy.

The Federal Reserve isn't federal...they are allowed to print money which they charge for, then they give that money to banks that they own large interests in, whom them lend that same money back to the government that paid to have it printed. Heck, they don't even bother to print the money most of the time; it is usually just numbers in computers. This is why inflation is so out of control and gold is so expensive.

They actually charge for something that they should have to pay for. It is like if counterfeiters were charging the government to print money, and lending the money to the government...and most of the time, these counterfeiters don't even print the money!

When this country was founded, there were no personal income taxes. One of the major methods of public finance was the creation of currency; the government made fortunes while printing money responsibly. The Fed is a leach on the government, the people, and the industries of this country.

The reason there is no outcry is because most people don't really care about anything...they think that voting democrat or republican or black or female will change the leadership somehow, but they are all the same...and even if an independent got the presidency, the rest of the government as well as the news outlets that control the minds of the general populous would still be the same.

Now, I've read the above comments, but I think its in the best interest of internet-peace that I do not call anyone out directly.

First off: This video is a load of crap. People who have no clue about economics are talking about... economics. To blame the federal reserve for inflation is absolutely wrong. Sure, they contribute a MINOR portion of the overall problem. Inflation can (isn't) be regulated by different monetary policies (mind you, not all inflation is bad inflation).

Next up. In the short video clip - they bring up the 'fact' that US has a massive gap between rich and poor. While this is true. This is a fact people love just to toss around without actually comprehending what they're saying. The IRS released a study maybe 5 years ago? Give or take. The study tagged several people in different income categories. Over the course of the study (10 years I think?) that showed something like 80% of the surveyed people moving freely from one income category to the next. So in short, while there are massive gaps between income levels, people move freely within the market. THIS cannot be said about many other countries.

It is being regulated by the Fed; the same people who started inflation in this country. When our money was tied to gold, we had deflation...money got more valuable every year; not less valuable every day. Not only is our money no longer tied to gold, but within 30 days, it will be illegal to sell gold or silver as commodities. It is designed to keep people from saving their money...because money in an account earning 3% annually will actually lose value, and now you can't even put your money into gold so that it at least maintains value. The idea is that if no one is saving money, more people will be spending money.

The problem is that most people don't save money just to save money...they save money to spend on big things, and the interest earned would go towards those things if it were not overpowered by inflation.

This is a big part of why the last stock market crash hurt the little guys so much; they knew they might lose money on the market, but they also might win...putting the money in a bank is a guaranteed loss.

Mmm, your viewpoint seems to resemble that of the “zeitgeist” films. Which worries me greatly...

Back to the topic at hand; Inflation is good for the economy. Yet, everything in moderation. Fed’s do attempt to keep inflation under control, but not ALWAYS doing the greatest job. I’m not to sure what else I can say on that subject, I already feel as if I’m repeating myself.

As for the gold standard comment: I’ll be frank. I do not know enough about the gold standard to debate you on an academic level. I’ve heard plenty of reasons for, and against the gold standard. Let me get back to you. :)
