iPhone 5 announcement will be in Cupertino on October 4th
According to multiple sources, Apple will announce the iPhone 5, at its headquarters in Cupertino on October 4th.

The headquarters is where Apple has chosen to launch all their iPhones and iPad devices, to date.

Although it is unclear when the phone will actually be released, Apple has blacked out vacation days for employees for October 9-15, indicating that a major product launch will be in that time period.

Updated specs for the phone are likely to be an A5 dual-core processor, an 8MP camera, mobile payments (NFC?), a slightly larger display and more memory.

Verizon and AT&T will be getting the smartphone, but there has been massive speculation that Sprint is getting the device, as well.

AArghhhhhhhhh. I'm so sick and tired of hearing about this stupid phone! Are people REALLY that brainwashed about a s**tty product? Not much has changed on this phone from the first one! It's pretty much the same POS phone and will continue to be the same POS phone because Crapple sheep will continue to buy whatever Crapple says! I wish this phone would cost $1000.00+ for EVERYONE just so I could smile REALLY big when you piss a lot of money away on a Crap product.

I mean, my 3G, the 2nd iPhone released, was a huge upgrade over the previous incarnation. My phone is a POS compared to the newer 4G, but nonetheless does everything I ask of it and has a huge line of 3rd party support.

I have no hate for the Android devices, but they were not available when I first jumped on the Apple bandwagon. BTW, I don't need EVERY new product they put out and am just happy with something that works as advertised.

I've been with AT&T for over 10 years, but if this thing jumps to Sprint and has the same cheapo plans they are offering to lure in new customers, I might make the jump to save some $$$. Oh and 4G speed would be a nice upgrade, but in all honesty, we have areas I travel in that can't even get 3G, so let's maybe concentrate on that first :-)

Agreed. It would be nice if 4G was everywhere. People keep making that "omgz it doesnt have 4G!?" argument when 4G is NOT the standard, nor is it available everywhere. The same reason why blu-ray is not on Macs, because it's not the standard yet.

Sprint has just recently raised their ETF to $350 and also raised the price of their early upgrade fee. They're also ending unlimited mobile hotspot for smartphones in early October.

Yep, they're definitely getting the iPhone. All the signs are there.

It will be interesting to say the very least. I currently have a Sprint BB which was up for contract at the end of this month. While I am no fanboy, I have used the Iphone from other friends and like what I saw. I would be interested in it from sprint.

loving the hate for this phone...no official specs have been released and it's already getting abuse.
I'm not even bothered about 4G as it hasn't even been bid on in the UK...I don't think they'll even have it ready over here until this time next year.

The iPhone is the best phone i ever used and i wont ever go back to another. Besides me using the iPhone, its the only APPLE product i ever used.. Not a fan boy here or what ever they call it. I'm not one of those crazy people that wait all day in line for the next new one. I'm due for an upgrade but i will defiantly wait awhile when the 5 comes out, always buggy in the beginning anyway.

4G is over rated anyway for now. It really kills the battery and it's not in most places. I'm an iPhone 4 and owner and tried on a HTC Inspire 4G for a week. I was lucky to get 4G speeds 20% of the time. My main thing is I want the next iPhone 4 to have a bigger screen. Screen size is the main reason why I tried out HTC Inspire.

IMHO the size of the iPhone is fine, let's not work toward a size of a mini tablet...
