Apple, publishers to offer concessions in EU antitrust case
According to multiple sources, Apple and four major book publishers will let retailers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble to sell ebooks at a discount for two years if it will end the EU antitrust investigations against them.

The EU began an investigation into the publishers and their ebook pricing deal with Apple last December, claiming it hampered competition in on the continent.

Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, Hachette Livre and Macmillan are the publishers in question.

Each of the publishers had agreed to deals with Apple in which the digital versions would sell for set prices on iTunes. The deals stipulated that other retailers could not sell the books for lower prices, thus forcing Amazon to bring prices up.

"The European Commission is market testing the commitments on an informal basis," added the sources.

Apple & the 4 book clubs will LET them do it!?! Who the f*k are they to set any kind of president or legal binding anything!?! From the looks of it Apple & friends should be taken to the cleaners like whatshisass from that rag tabloid that was hacking all the cell phones & lying about it.

I'm tired of this lilly white, sterile, 'we don't do anything wrong' bullshit ploy coming off Apple.

They've tried to come off as genteel, common weed smokers that just want to build friendly computers that anyone can use, but reality states that they're really a 1000 horrid bunch of meth freaks, bunched in a small pull along camper trailer, reeking of cat piss & cooking meth as fast as they can go - right on the verge of blowing up the town square.

one to the head & two to the chest... it's the only way to be sure. And we don't have time for a warrant.

I was just thinking the very same F'ing thing! Apple is doing so well for one apparent reason..........stronghold grips on as much as they possibly can without merit.

I'm all for IP but seriously....must put a stop to the nonsense "We invented this", "We invented that", next it'll be......."We invented reading/looking/interpreting a certain way".
