Toys R Us shows off another new kid tablet

Following the marginal success of their Nabi tablet, retailer Toys R Us has launched a sequel, the Tabeo.

The tablet runs on Android 4.0, has a 7-inch display, 4GB internal storage and is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor with 1GB RAM.



Additionally, the device has a microSD slot, dual cameras, Wi-Fi and HDMI connectivity, and supposed battery life of 10 hours.

Making it aimed at kids (and parents) is built-in parental controls that blocks websites based on 27 categories, with parents being able to add or remove from that list from their PCs. The Tabeo also allows parents to limit how long a child can access the Internet or how long they play games.

The Tabeo comes pre-loaded with 20 games including premium versions of Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope, and Temple Run. There also additional apps aimed at education and activities such as photography and cooking. The Tabeo App Store is also pre-filtered, but does have a decent amount of apps.

Toys R Us will start selling the tablet next month for $150.

  That's all we need... another expensive piece of equipment kids won't appreciate that either gets used as fist base or Polly Prissy Pants' piss plate.
  
  I mean, it's great that they put software on these things that help parents keeps tack of their kids, but given our society today, how many parents are really doing that?
  
  I did by starting out with no kid gets a computer before 10 years old. And it was the family clunker, no internet; PERIOD.
  
  Most of you who have read my forums know the low down, but movies, books, comics, ect., all followed a similar pattern. I never tried to censor my kids. I just never let them jump too many years ahead of their age group. Obviously, that was going to happen soon enough.
  
  My point being, Toys-R-Us should be selling toys, bikes & games and General Motors should be selling cars & trucks.

You don't like your kids to use the internet ¡FINE! let us raise our children our own way. If you want to know what really is wrong with society today is precisely the pricks that want to tell other people how to live their lives. For all I care toys r us could sell porn, that doesn't mean I'll buy it nor my children.

  I guess that taking your kids to the library to get a library card, and some books to read, is out of the question.
  
  I guess I am getting too old to understand why kids, instead, need a tablet, the internet, or chat rooms to learn. Ah well, maybe they need it to learn that text speak s-hit that I have seen. That certainly will prepare them for their future, after leaving the nest.

They'll probably be recovering heroin addicts if the occasion ever occurs, but at least they know.
