Microsoft to launch Windows 8 at event on October 25
Microsoft has invited the press for an event on October 25th to launch Windows 8.

The press event will take place in New York City, with the operating system expected to go on sale the next day.

Additionally, it is rumored that Microsoft will hold a midnight launch event for its Windows RT-based Surface tablets.

There are no extra details available yet on the event but it is sure to be important for Microsoft and their upcoming OS.

Good..........can't wait to see this shitty OS backfire on MS. Serves them right for producing nonsense specifically geared toward touchscreens..........of which I know of NO ONE that owns a touchscreen PC. This will likely flop worse than Vista. Might be faster and cooler looking but its massive impracticality will hurt sales. Just my guess though.

You think XP is Ghetto, and people should wake up. Yet you are giving the new OS flak. What is your take then?

Xp "was" great, Vista is/was terrible but close to a good idea, Windows 7 is the new Xp and right on par with an effective, good looking and smooth OS that can be used on any machine whether it be tablet, tab, laptop, notebook, netbook or superPC. Windows 7 has been nothing but superb in the 3 years I have had it and the 1 I beta tested. There isn't anything I can't run on Windows 7. Stable too. MS is just putting this out to keep in line with their promise to follow in the footsteps of Apple by release a new OS every 3 years. Better to wait longer than release nonsense crap just to "save face".

    Done!!
