Congress wants the terrorist Twitter pages shut down
Seven members of Congress have asked the FBI to shutter the the Twitter accounts of terrorist groups Hamas, Hezbollah and al Shabaab.

The demand was originally made in September and was brought forth again this month after violence erupted in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.

Seven House Republicans, led by Ted Poe of Texas, made the request: "Allowing foreign terrorist organizations like Hamas to operate on Twitter is enabling the enemy,. Failure to block access arms them with the ability to freely spread their violent propaganda and mobilize in their War on Israel.

Anti-American foreign terrorist groups around the world are doing the same thing every day. The FBI and Twitter must recognize sooner rather than later that social media is a tool for the terrorists."

The FBI responded by saying they "will respond to members of Congress directly. Our response is being considered internally."

Israel ( and the U.S. arms & money supplier ) lost this 8 days battle in Gaza and now they are crying :)))

The real Terrorist is the U.S. Government War-defense-contractors that make all the money by killing millions of people around the world in the name of Greed with out regards on human life and steal the Natural Resources of those countries they battle against .
P.S. War is systematic rape & looting. It's never a means to protect any people.

    Fight PR spin with facts.

Any terrorist activity, be it planning or clandestine communication to harm the USA on a USA based company web site is treason and those members should be put to death or at a minimum, jailed.

Twitter doesn't allow child porn which is obviously illegal. So why should they allow other illegal activity?

I do believe in due process though and Twitter has every right to NOT arbitrarily take down members on assumption. Congress needs to have hard evidence to present to Twitter.

if they are committing illegal activities on twitter there accounts should be frozen or banned.thats goes for everyone

    propaganda is not actually illegal.

anyone who is not a us citizen and doesnt live in usa shouldnt be charged with treason (for speaking out against usa) as they have not pledged loyalty to usa.

i have the big screen tv,a ps3 and im gonna surround sound to go with it soon hopefully.car still runs smooth and computer still works but its a bit outdated.

Sounds like a few of your comment in here are on the verge of dangerous...

One group speaks of free speech, albeit for the US & it's agencies or peoples - or that of the proposed (and be honest here) recognized terrorist organizations.

And NOT Legitimate Skirmishes Either. I'm talking the the real ass raping oppressionistic, radical, came over here with the mission to kill 4K+ people & did it kind of people. It almost seems kind of shameful, if asked.

Sure we can bitch & moan that one fall of the domino can lead to avalanche, but I'd like to think we have enough educated people & armed red necks to keep our own oppression from happening to that extent. But these shut downs are not exactly what they're talking about.

They're talking about demoralizing the enemy, with little else. The more the terrorists flood pages of propaganda with tripe of hate & blood lust the more they continue to perpetuate the hate & reverse human progression back to the age of goat f*king & hiding the boogie man.

It's time to stop it. We don't allow full on racist, hate pages (to an extent) & as mentioned, we don't allow child pornography. Even that is universal. I mean this is the new millennium for christsake! We're supposed to have floating cars! We've got 3D TV, where's the f*king floating cars!?!

So, in my book, terrorists are target practice. They're an old hat trick that little kids whine about seeing at a 10 year old's birthday party when the haggard magician shows up to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Sure, there's a little life thrown back into the trick when he farts dust once in a while or dismembers the rabbit to the Hokey Pokey, but it's still "the same old trick" & the terrorists are the same old assholes thinking that they're going to get new results pulling the same stunts.

So what does all this mean... Basically, you can't whine about the highway cop busting the speed limit to catch the speeder in order to write him/her a ticket. The terrorist are wrong, get over yourselves if you try to argue otherwise. Being topical is one thing, being argumentative because you were on the can & a fart back fired & gave you an idea doesn't constitute as having concentrated on world policy.

Most of us want to teach our kids 'right' & none of you folks in here can't honestly tell me you haven't seen when a little kid has been taught 'wrong'; especially when you have the power you in "you" to correct it. Well, some people can't/don't/won't be taught "right" despite how "right" you can make it for them.

Shut the sites down. Shut the terrorists down in the most direct, swift & human fashion you can muster. They're doing no one any good & their actions are for "their" own selfish purposes, despite what their words may say.

The FBI's reticence regarding this issue is because they have been monitoring these sites all along. It's what any prudent anti-terrorist agency would do and shutting those accounts down would only hinder their intelligence gathering. At least this is my take on the issue.

A voice of sanity, thank you.

Shutting them down would only drive all their communications underground. Why not keep a open window into their affairs while we can. The real question is, why would anyone use twitter to organize anything? It baffles me that as technology gets more advanced and more integrated with everyday uses people still act like they live in he 1950's and ignore all the trails they are leaving.

I agree, there are mountains of real intel to be gleaned thru this medium. Even as the terrorists try to flood it with other garbage intel attempting to throwing anyone off the trail, the CIA/FBI/Whoever has enough other sources to be able to corroborate what's true intel.
It's a double edged sword really, you allow them to continue corrupting other similar minded people enough to turn them into true terrorists, or you lose a valuable source of information.

Complain as either side may, we still need to find out who "fired the first shot" as apposed to who is building or settling on who's land. (Deity choice) that people just want to raise their kids, but the subject matter here is still about terrorist activity here gentlemen.

My statements, still remain. Hate, bodily harm to the point of deaths on a reoccurring monumental scale to the point these assholes (the terrorists, people - keep this in perspective) think it's a challenge to top each other's top score is not solving anything.

We ALL cohabitate on this planet, nobody or organization OWNS any of it. So pissing & moaning that there is soul proprietorship over a piece of ground (to the degree this has gotten to over the last 4K years) has got to stop!

If you can't evolve - f*king die out with the rest of the dinosaurs. For the most part, people just want to live. The terrorist don't. Give them their greatest wish & let's create a harbor free of the old thinking that continues to encourage the fighting.

The infantile, anti Semitic & American snide comments aren't helping your cause, they're actually drowning it. Albeit, I'm not speaking from the narrow margins of my government, but that's the luxury I get for living in a country that I can both live in & speak against at the same time. I earned it.

You don't like your conditions - make positive influences. You're trying to tell the panel here that killing everything in sight is a positive thing? You'll pardon me if I don't see the correlation.
