Is Apple already working on iPad Mini sequel?
According to RBC Capital Markets analyst Doug Freedman, Apple is already working on their iPad Mini sequel, just months after releasing the original.

The Mini was released at the beginning of November, but the alleged new device will hit in the Q1 2013.

Freedman says he believes the company will finally embrace an accelerated product release cycle to be able to better compete with rivals that can release a handful of devices in one year compared to just one iPhone, or iPad, for example.

The analyst learned of the new device after meeting with component makers in Asia and after talks with Texas Instruments.

If true, the new device will update the display to Retina, and likely add some RAM.

Of course there bloody are, they purposely released an inferior ipad mini just so they can release another one with a slight improvement!! All they got to do is just wait for the stupid people to line up outside and buy one. Apple must be laughing so very very loud.

iPad mini retina for $ 479. Fair enough . Ever wonder why 50% of the tablet market is ipad but 90% tablet usage is ipad? They are worth the extra.

Hack a bit, invest a bit, work a bit, jerk a bit

To YOU they are. Another way to interpret the same data is that people who don't buy iPads tend to have more devices to share their attention, while a large proportion of iPad users don't have, for example, a desktop computer at all.

For the first couple generations Apple said no one wanted a smaller tablet until the Kindle and some other smaller tablets were starting sell better and then (and only then) Apple made one and people lined up even though it did not have a retina display and was basically a smaller iPad 2. Now they will start the chain all over again with adding features they could have put in the first one and people will flock to the Apple store like it is the most innovative thing ever.

Android users also tend to use their phones for a lot more of their mobile computing...why bother with a tablet when a phone does the exact same things on a slightly smaller screen? It isn't like their phone has some kind of tiny 4" joke of a screen. Plus, there is the "hip" factor...like hideous $20,000 Fiats, the iPad says to the world, "Look at me, I have money to waste on overpriced, underpowered garbage".
