The company, which is China's second largest maker of phone equipment says there is a chance that they will release a similar phone in the U.S. this year, as well.
Looking to break some of its dependence on Google's Android, ZTE will try the device on Mozilla's recently announced mobile operating system.
"We closely monitor the ecosystem and how it evolves," says the company. "If that is ready and if consumer studies support that data, then we may launch one in U.S. also this year."
The OS is backed by Deutsche Telekom, Sprint Nextel and Telefonica SA, each of who are looking to build cheaper devices not running on Android.
