OUYA starts restrictive All-Access pass for $60 per year

OUYA starts restrictive All-Access pass for $60 per year
OUYA, the Android gaming set-top box that failed to gain any traction outside of Kickstarter, has started a new annual pass give gamers access to the a nice library of games.

The All-Access Pass costs $60 per year and will give you access to all of the games on OUYA, but there of course some major restrictions to this all-you-can-eat model.

In the finer print, the pass stipulates that all games you can play must have been originally priced at $30 or less. Additionally, all games are not simply available like they would be in Netflix or similar services, you still have to "buy" them at a price of $0.00 by looking through the catalog and selecting each game. All in-game purchases do not have their prices discounted.

The new Pass is available for a limited time only as OUYA continues to test new models to stay afloat.

Recently, the company discussed creating an OUYA SDK for use on set-top boxes by OEMs and also on HDTVs. So far there have not been any major developments on that front.

I didn't get to do a mocking told-you-so dance to anyone about OUYA since nobody I know thought positively about it anyway.

Pardon me for not joining in on the usual jolly slackjawed slagfest that occurs every time the OUYA is mentioned on AfterDawn, this doesn't look like that terrible a deal to me. Xbox Gold or PS Plus doesn't give you access to all* the games on those platforms so to make that comparison is utterly asinine.

There are some real gems in it's catalogue.... but I forget, Droid games are only meant to be played by poking at a touchscreen.

So do your little dance... we still get plenty of use out of the device, it's used every day (media, games and sideloaded) especially for our little boy.

Yeah I know, we're all crazy in my house... we actually use the device but what would we know? If you're gonna reply that you tried it and didn't like it... fine... you can't please everyone.

*There are no games over $30 (or $15) at this time.
