iPhone 6 now plagued by its next scandal: 'Hairgate'
Just a couple of weeks after the iPhone 6 (and 6 Plus) survived the highly over-exaggerated 'Bendgate,' Apple has a new problem: "Hairgate."

Users are now reporting that the device catches your beard and other hairs and pulls them out.

Supposedly, the hairs get trapped between the aluminum and glass of the devices.

Of course, this latest "scandal" is overblown and not too serious, but something to keep in mind.

The Iphone really is just boring and sucks! The sheeple losers that absolutely dedicate their lives to ONLY Iphone this and Iphone that are in serious need of a headcheck.

Chad Coleman looks like a blinded, Apple-loving, IPhone-using moron!

This disdain you have for Apple is really comical. Why is it that anyone who doesn't use what you use is a moron? Who cares if Apple has a closed off OS. What is it that the iPhone can't do??? It can make calls, get online, text, keep a calendar, tell time, etc.... You can play music and movies on it. There are apps for just about anything you could possibly want to do.... So what is it that it can't do that the other phones can??

    - Run Linux.
    - Play unconverted 10-bit h.264 .mkvs.
    - Sideload apps WITHOUT having to "jailbreak" or otherwise potentially violate warranty.
    - Run a wide variety of alternate ROMs, which incidentally also greatly extend the useful life of old phones.
    - Run a large number of retro game console emulators.
    - Allow app development for *free*, up to and including placement in their store.
    - Allow distribution of free software in their store that does NOT violate the GNU GPL.
    - Allow the purchase of waterproof models.
    - Not tell their owners "they're holding it wrong", when they're holding it like a cell phone and encountering silly radio issues.
    - And so on.

I don't exactly hate iPhones - they certainly have some merits - but for the price you pay, it's not even a close race except for the camera; iPhone cameras are generally quite nice.

Well, the truth hurts sometimes...you really had to purposely cup the bottom of the phone in your hands in a way I can't imagine someone would normally hold a mobile phone. Maybe it was only those with certain mental problems who had the issue. ;-)

    Next Week's Scandal: The nutgate!

Many iPhone 6 users declare discomfort in the groin region and feelings of shame after attempting to take junk shots.

I don't agree, and apparently a large portion of iPhone users also did not ^^' . And if that's the only item there you disagreed with, well...

As both a Windows and iPhone user, I agree with most of this. However, I can give a rebuttle for most of the points.

    - Run Linux. Why? iOS has the slickest smoothest UI. It basically brought smart phones into the 21st century.
    - Play unconverted 10-bit h.264 .mkvs. - I agree, but again, why is this a problem? Since iPhone users can't carry around SD cards, they can't easily transfer/play mkvs locally. Personally, if I 'needed' a movie on the go and I didn't have wifi to stream, I don't think I'd use a 10-bit MKV just due to the size alone
    - Sideload apps WITHOUT having to "jailbreak" or otherwise potentially violate warranty. - This is partially true. Android DOES require rooting for a lot of hidden functions/side loading. As a Nexus 7 tablet owner, I'm not a fan of Android's 'give permission to everything, or you can't install the app'. Why does game need access to my PII?
    - Run a wide variety of alternate ROMs, which incidentally also greatly extend the useful life of old phones. - Can't disagree. I don't like not being able to roll back to prior version of iOS because Apple stops signing it.
    - Run a large number of retro game console emulators. Can't disagree.
    - Allow app development for *free*, up to and including placement in their store. Can't disagree. Really wish I could develop an app in Windows and place in the store
    - Allow distribution of free software in their store that does NOT violate the GNU GPL.Can't disagree.
    - Allow the purchase of waterproof models. Not sure what you mean? While the flagship Samsung phone has a waterproof model, I wouldn't hold it against Nokia, LG, HTC, or any phone that wasn't water proof. Buy an appropriate case and be done.
    - Not tell their owners "they're holding it wrong", when they're holding it like a cell phone and encountering silly radio issues.
Can't disagree. I agree, it was poor for Apple to say that. Even I face palmed when I read that in the news a few years ago

Er, for rebutting "most of my points", well... I don't see many rebuttals ^^' . But I do see most of your points, more or less.

In order - while skipping those we essentially agree on - I'd respond:
    - "Slickest, smoothest UI"? I simply do not agree. We'll have to chalk that one up to personal taste and let it be.
    - Linux is a real software development OS. With a Bluetooth keyboard and a DLNA monitor (or the proper cable, depending on the phone and monitor used), and some external storage (if desired), you have a quite legitimate desktop software development platform... That is also still a phone. iOS is only good for developing software for iDevices.
    - Ten-bit .mkvs, at any given resolution, are significantly SMALLER than the equivalent 8-bit encode, if encoded properly (usually true, but sometimes, well... lol).
    - It still remains true that you CANNOT sideload apps, period, on any non-jailbroken iOS device.
    - As for my mention of waterproof options, this was really meant to convey a more general reference to the vast array of options available for Android phones' specs; I should have been much clearer, pardon me. While this can certainly be a negative (re: fragmentation of the OS), it's also a very strong positive, depending on the circumstances.

Nor is the initial list I presented anywhere near all-inclusive. I still think it's an excellent response to the question posed above, "So what is it that it can't do that the other phones can?"

What this boils down to is that for the money, the iPhone simply does not keep up with Android phones (tablets are a whole 'nother ball O' wax) for providing the flexibility and feature set I care about at a reasonable cost, and a rather significant majority of the smartphone-using population of the planet happens to agree (roughly 65%, varying by the source, at the moment). This is in no way meant to be an an attack on Apple/iOS, just a simple opinion.

If you don't even use a cell phone, why exactly are you even posting? How would you even know if it's boring and if it sucks?

    @djgizmo

Your "rebuttal" actually came up with another neg ... lack of SDcard support. Heh.

The different mem sizes on iPhones etc. is part of their 'elitist' marketing strategy that they want their saps to buy into.

Playing back any format is important to anyone that wants to use the device as a media player. Esp if it can connect to a bigger screen etc.

Knowing someone that programs for Apple devices that "Slickest, smoothest UI" is a result of programming NOT the OS or device itself. Apple have compulsory guidelines in regards to this in writing apps for them and according to her it's a gigantic pain in the backside as you have to preload all the moves that a punter might make at that moment. That's fine if you like that but just be aware it comes at a cost of sucking up heaps of CPU power.

EDIT: Sorry. Obviously the OS has that built in as well but it can't automatically transfer that "smoothness" into an app's UI. Still uses up cpu power in any case.

You missed out a few of major ones that would be of great concern to me. Transfer files and music simply by connecting via bluetooth or wifi network. Save attachments from my email. No USB On The Go. No compatibility with Rav Power wifi external storage!

I have even managed to install some "made for phone" applications on my wifi only Nexus 7.

Now to the "hairgate". I do have more hair than an average Chinese or Japanese person.I also sport a full beard. We Indians also fancy male jewellery. I am particularly careful when buying say a watch. So far as metals are concerned I can't wear anything other than SS or gold touching my skin. Get skin irritation. So have to select chains and watch belts that will not catch hair. Our ladies dress up in silk sarees with tassels that too can get caught in "hairgate".
