Here is the RIAA's list of 50 top pirate sites that are an 'assault on our humanity'

Here is the RIAA's list of 50 top pirate sites that are an 'assault on our humanity'
As they do every year, the industry trade group RIAA has submitted its list of the top 50 "rogue" piracy sites to the U.S. government, and as usual the group has taken some liberties with its verbage.

For example, the group says this year in the filing with the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) that "We must end this assault on our humanity and the misappropriation of fundamental human rights."

In addition, the group believes that many of the rogue sites believe they are operating to aid freedom of speech and government censorship, which is not true as they are still stealing other's copyrights to do so. "Some observers continue to suggest that the protection of expression is a form of censorship or restriction on fundamental freedoms, and some pirate sites cloak themselves in the language of freedom to justify themselves--sites like The Pirate Bay." added Neil Turkewitz, the RIAA's EVP. "We must end this assault on our humanity and the misappropriation of fundamental human rights. If the protection of expression is itself a restriction on freedom of expression, then we have entered a metaphysical Wonderland that stands logic on its head, and undermines core, shared global values about personhood."

The RIAA was also grateful to payment processors and ad networks that have stopped doing business with warez sites, but the group says there still must be more done, especially by ISPs.

Here is the list of "notorious markets," which includes torrent, P2P, warez sites and even a few blogs:

Let's get some of this nonsense straight regarding what these jackass jagoffs at the RIAA purport:

First....It's not an "assault on humanity" as "piracy" does not diminish your "humanity" you ASSES! It's an "assault" more on the resultant works of your CREATIVITY.

"Assaulting your humanity" is something I and most others would probably like to actually do!

2nd - torrentz.eu is a PURE SEARCH ENGINE. It does not produce one single F'ing downloadable torrent as it points to EVERY OTHER TORRENT SITE.........so with this mentality, let's slap Google.com and Yahoo.com on this list as they point to torrentz.eu.

    This is RIAA propaganda!

Just to remind the RIAA......is nothing more than a loser, meritless "association" misrepresenting its intentions. If the RIAA blew up (GOD willing) and all those in the RIAA died from attrition......................Only the family members would miss those pricks! (And I would oh so like to spy on the relatives of RIAA and see how much they actually are illicitly downloading themselves).

For some reason, when I read the headline, this image popped into my head of Cary Sherman sitting on the toilet, chewing on a chocolate candy bar with a laptop on his lap, Googling "free mp3 downloads" and writing down the results on a notepad.

...and we're expected to overlook the fact that ownership of ideas is far more detrimental to our humanity.

Brainwashing has never been so lucrative.

mmmmm. I can see what RIAA are trying to do, but they have worded it pretty badly and opened themselves up to the sharks out there who will pounce on this niave way of communicating, what I think is still an important point.

I used to be one of those people who downloaded, but it got to a point where I realised that I am taking something that I didn't pay for. I wouldn't go to a shop and steal a CD or a movie, because it's wrong. Since changing my ways I've also begun to appreciate what I've got. When I buy a CD, I actually enjoy it more (sounds silly I know), and the same goes for movies. Long gone are those days where I saturated myself with files and files of music and movies.

I know that there will be people on here that may not understand or want to understand what I'm saying here, but I do think it is important that society changes their view on these sites. Put simply, it is stealing, no matter how you try to justify your actions.

Put simply copying & sharing is not stealing anything.

Couple that with the fact most sharing buy the most anyway & this attitude is simple absurd.
It gets even more laughable when so many of us also pay for premium music/TV & movie services (often with copying facilities on our subscription boxes - so downloading gives us nothing we won't already be getting (and paying for) merely the convenience of timing & a choice of quality.

The fact is once material is released control over it disappears.
    Get over it.

Oh and the 'entertainment industry' is one of the richest enterprises on the planet.
So no, I won't be crying over the likes of the RIAA & MPAA (both of which whine about artists losses despite their own track record of decades of swindling so many artists, as court cases over the decades prove).

    Quote: ...'Assault on our humanity'
All those people in the War Industry supplying Armies, Police departments around the world.
All those countries always in conflict like Israel, etc.
All those sellers and Buyers of arms of all kind, provoking Panic & Terror to control the people: are noting more that Pure Criminals and they never go to any International Criminal Courts or lost their jobs or anything happen to them: They just keep killing civilians in the streets, all over the world every single day.

Police in U.S. kill one African-American every 28hrs. & around 1K American Citizens every single year in USA alone; Just an example. No to mention the CIA or Mercenaries grope's Like Black Water; now call Academi (America Private Mercenaries) or Mercenaries from many other countries. Who all are at the same level as ISIL. If you ask me.

All those including many Presidents: are nothing more than 100% Criminals walking beside us on the streets: Assaulting Humanity on the regular basics.

    MORE:
    Monsanto Corp.
    The Federal Reserve.
    Oil & Gas Corps.
    Banks.
    etc,
    etc.
    etc.

...I can keep going for hrs.
But a short film can tell you more about 'Assault on our humanity' in special after the minute 5:00

I believe it's also the case where if a highly anticipated movie gets leaked to the web........it historically generated MORE revenue at the box office.

I don't feel bad for taking music. The companies like Sony, EMI, etc screwed the artists so badly for years, they made the money and the artists didn't.

Money from musicians is made on touring.......PERIOD!!

CD sales is like .07 cents an album profit. Leaking music is absolutely free advertising and fills the 44000 person stadiums like at Allstate Arena where people can buy a t-shirt of their fav band for 35 dollars........or a hoodie for 65.

Come on people. "stealing" is technically REMOVING from another.

Technically, grabbing a pencil of coworker's desk w/o returning is 'stealing'.

Taking a cigarette from someone's pack w/o asking is stealing but give me a break.
