Anti-piracy group BREIN takes down Popcorn Time fan pages that didn't even host software
Dutch anti-piracy group BREIN has taken down six sites that were set up as 'fan pages' to the Popcorn Time software, despite the fact that they did not host the apps themselves.

Each of the sites now shows a notice from BREIN that using Popcorn Time is illegal and that the sites all reached financial settlements before being shut down.

BREIN named four of the six of the sites -- PopcornTime.nl, Popcorn-Time.eu, Popcorn-Time.info and PopcornTimeFilms.nl, all of which are now non-operational.

Reads the message (translated):

This site has been removed by the BREIN foundation for propagating Popcorn Time Software.

Popcorn Time encourages illegal use and uses an illegal online supply of films and television series.

WARNING: Popcorn Time software uses peer-to-peer (P2P) technology allowing users to both up – and download. Streaming, uploading and downloading of illegal content is prohibited by law and will therefore result in liability for the damages caused.

NOTE: Uploading is illegal and causes greater damage than a single download.

SUPPORT CREATIVITY: Go to Thecontentmap.nl and see where you can legally download and stream.

The move backs sense for a group like BREIN, although the sites did not host the software itself and none were all too popular.

    YES!!!!!!

'Bout time! PT is illicit as Hell and while I still download from time to time, I refuse to use this virus-laden, pirating P.O.S. software that is a blatant violation of copyright.

Comes packed with viruses and Peerblock seriously cripples this program's ability to download anything so using it is only for those that don't care if they get busted......and those in other countries like the Middle East where the U.S. can't do squat!

Seems weird to download it if youre so much against it? And also, where have you ever gotten virus with Popcorn Time? I run popcorn-ti.me and write about Popcorn Time daily, have a lot of experience with all of the versions and Ive NEVER come across virus.

Although illegal to use (not to download), Popcorn Time is an amazing app that with no questions will turn out to be a gamechanger in the streaming media business.
