Joint Video Team

The Joint Video Team, or JVT, was created as a cooperative project between the ISO/IEC, responsible for MPEG standards, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to develop the MPEG-4 Part 10 standard. The standard is jointly published by both organizations, as MPEG-4 Part 10 by ISO/IEC and H.264 by ITU. As a result, both AVC (MPEG-4 AVC) and H.264 are correct names for the standard.
