'Harry Potter' e-books are finally official

'Harry Potter' e-books are finally official
J.K. Rowling, the billionaire author behind 'Harry Potter' has confirmed that the global blockbuster series is finally coming in e-book form.

The news comes with the launch of the "Pottermore," the interactive site built around the series.

Says the author (via NYT):

I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years, and to bring the stories to a new digital generation.

Because Rowling has all digital rights to the series, she has waited years to release the e-books and will now bypass traditional retailers and sell them directly from Pottermore.com. Scholastic will keep its revenue share of the series.

There was no word on pricing, but the books will go on sale in October.

Easily. And there are TONS of fans who will replace their crappy pirated copies for the real thing when the time comes. never underestimate the power of the Potter.

Not to mention her author's release edition ebook, which is probably what this is about. Like C. Ray Nagin, Rowling is possibly going to give the audience a version of the books "without" the publisher's "creative" input.

Granted, that's a highly speculative statement, but other works (songs, poems etc.) have resurfaced in the past unfettered by talentless hands seeking their .02 cents so they too felt like they were creative.

I'm not bitter, I'm just saying some folks need a jalapeno colonic followed by a turpentine cleansing rinse.

Said everything I need to I just wanted on note these are my thoughts too. I even have the "leaks" (fan-written - people actually spent the time to write their sequels and brand it as leaks so people would read them).

Even without internet access, as long as you have a scanner and OCR software you're good to go :) If you bought the books originally...
