Source: Samsung Galaxy S IV coming in February
Angered by the patent case that went against them in the U.S. against Apple, Samsung is said to be looking to make a strong statement by releasing the Galaxy S IV at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in February in Spain.

A Samsung official, which asked to remain anonymous said frankly "Samsung is ready to unveil the next Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy S4, at early next year's mobile world congress (MWC) in the Spanish city of Barcelona."

The device is expected to hit consumer's hands by mid-March at the latest.

In the device, Samsung will use a 5-inch, flexible OLED display, the company's own Exynos processors and quad-core chips.

Additionally, "Samsung is asking Apple to pay more to use its mobile application processors produced at its plant in Austin, Texas. The release of the GS4 means more market share for Samsung as it is the only firm that can guarantee on-time delivery, output commitment and better pricing for mobile application processors," said the executive (via KoreaTimes).

Adds one analyst: "Samsung's edges in manufacturing will further shine after the patent disputes go further on. In global markets, Samsung is confident to widen its lead over Apple, though the legal fight is a totally separate issue."

I think 5" is to much for a screen size. Will barely fit in your pocket. Also why is samsung going to release another galaxy phone it just released the s3?

For a phone I think 5" is about the max.....but then people are now talking about wanting PGS & phone services in 7" tablets.

God knows where this will end.

    28" tablet with 4G & all the rest? ;)

The legal fight is a totally separate issue my ....

Seriously why release the SIV? Simple, if Apple wins more lawsuits against the newer editions of Samsung's line up, they will be ready for it with the next latest and greatest.

My worry though is it's obvious that new cellular technology will not retain the same approx $500-600 MRSP on launch, but instead will be $700-800. This in mind, it's also going to over-saturate the world with technology that is being wasted by those who much have the next iterated phone every year. I can only imagine the trash pile it'll leave behind.

is probably perfect size for me since i have big hands, galaxy s3 is perfect right now, i think 4.8 vs 5" is not that big deal.

Well if Samsung are able to slim down the bezel and make the size of the device the same or smaller than the GALAXY S3 with the 5inch display, they should go for it.

I don't understand why every new version of the phone has to have a bigger screen. It doesn't make sense. Samsung already has the note for the people who like really big screens. I have the SII and I think this screen already borders on being too big for a phone.

Hopefully they can do something with the design to make it comfortable to hold and use.

If you look a Samsungs view greater and better. There trying to get all of the market as the Note is more for business and the s4 will be more for everyday people. What I think will happen with the s4 is you may try and see intel try to get samsung to use there chip.

I Dont think samsung quad core cpu's are not cracked up to what they are. I like the way qualcomm make a much better chip then the rest and they tend to process android and programs better and faster and show more of a true speed when it comes to doing processor speed tests. This may be just my opinion but I have had a few different phones. here in the uk we had a mobile phone company called orange and they offer the Orange San Diego with intel a 1.6 ghz atom processor and is slow to me and rubbish. So for me with specs alone and not screen size is the note 2 and apple has nothing on the note 2 at all and not much differents to me from thw iphone 4s to the iphone 5 the screen size and the 100mb speed over 4g lte witch no mobile phone comapany is offering and most sruggle to get to 10 mb at the moment on a mobile.

AS I see it in the usa the fastest internet on a mobile is T-mobile as sprint is very slow at&t are ok and verison is slowish and over priced. At the end of the day we take out these big contracts to get the latest phone and how many of the features will we really use. One good thing I will give apple is the there os support as they still support the 3gs. Its a hard market and at the end of the day its what the person who is buying the phone that they are happy with what they get.

Im a big samsung fan what are you a fan of. If your up in the air on witch phone to buy most stores do a instore demo and another good idea and what i do is ask the workers what phone they are using and what phones they will be getting in the future. Is your money spend it wisely ask questions and to the research before buying your phone.

Chefdamo, you have some interesting points to make, but it'd be easier for people to know that if you learned what a "paragraph" is ^^' ...

Chefdamo. Samsung would never use Intel chips in their phones. It'd be more expensive and they'd lose battery life. Also, the exynos 4412 is slightly better than the s4 while being on archaic A9 architecture. With exynos 5(A15 arm cortex chip) Mali 604 graphics, 4.8-5" screen, light skinning, with a 13 MP camera and 2 GIGS of ram. No body is safe.
