Amazon had been planning for a release this week, but there were supply issues that lead to a slight delay.
The world's largest e-tailer is also "hurrying to secure Japanese content" before the upcoming holiday season, said the paper.
Amazon has asked some publishers to change the data formats of some of their content, and that could delay the launch even further.
