Ubisoft removes 'always-on' DRM for new Far Cry 3 game

Ubisoft has announced the minimum requirements for its latest shooter, Far Cry 3, which thankfully removes Ubisoft's universally panned 'always-on' DRM.

The new revised Uplay DRM will only require a one-time activation, and will not need gamers to stay connected to the Internet whilst playing the single-player campaign.



Here are the full minimum specs:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 or AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ dual-core

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon HD 2900 512 MB with DirectX 9.0c

Memory: 4 GB

Recommended System Requirements

Processor: Intel Core i3-530 or AMD Phenom II X2 565 or equivalent quad-core

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 or AMD Radeon HD 5770 or equivalent 1 GB DirectX 11 graphics

Memory: 4 GB

High-Performance System Requirements

Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K or AMD FX-4150 or equivalent quad-core

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 or equivalent DirectX 11 graphics

Memory: 8 GB

Far Cry 3 is set for an early December release.

  Yeah definitely looking forward to it's release date, i'm sure it won't be a huge disappointment like the sniper elite v2 debacle,most probably hire it for the jtag till price drops down to around 20-30nz then buy a legit version tho i'm not sure if i'll get both versions or just go with the pc this time round (bought farcry 2 for both,tho bought pc version was around 2 years later what a difference in graphics)
  
  edit: oh yeah ! they better not have included the game save corruption issue from f2 either...dam s.o.b,however i hope the swim on land glitch is still there that really helped my swim stats,can't recall the distance but it was huge it even beat out my driving distance by a large number of km's

  How many times can you reinstall this game before they say you have to buy it again? That should be the real question to ask here...

  The makers of this incredibly stupid "always on" DRM have finally admitted defeat! That within itself is a win-win situation for gamers everywhere.Because it shows just what a miserable failure this idea was to begin with!
  
  Far Cry is one of their most popular selling titles for Ubisoft.
  
  So if they take off the stupid "always on" DRM for this, then the other games should follow suit.
  
  "Regular" Activation DRM has been around forever and easily disabled, so I do not see why people are getting their panties in a wad over that.
  
  But I have always said and continue to say I would never purchase an "always on" DRM game. It punishes the users who pay money, while the pirates disable it and play scott free.
