Windows 10 now installed on 75 million PCs

Microsoft has boasted today that Windows 10 is now installed on 75 million computers, in just one month of availability.

By comparison, it took six months to get 100 million Windows 8 licenses out there, although it is not an apples-to-apples comparison given that Windows 8 was not free.

Additionally, the company says "90,000 unique PC or tablet models" have upgraded to Windows 10, the Windows 10 store "has seen 6x more app downloads per device than Windows 8" and 122 years of gameplay have already been streamed to Win10 PCs from the Xbox One.

It seems Microsoft is well on its way to "1 billion connected Windows 10 devices" as they've proclaimed.

The download and installation were quick, easy, and trouble free, BUT after using Win 10 for a little over a week, I'm looking for an easy way to roll back to Win 7U.

Using Win7 for many hours per day, I find the reorganization of standard windows tools to be more than annoying. The search is a Royal PITA, requiring the drives to be linked into "one drive". As I have two servers with over 50,000 photographs without touching on the really old stuff to be scanned I don't trust the cloud, or Microsoft with my photos.

I make that statement with a degree in Computer Science and minors in Math and Art. I was working on my masters in CS as a GA, when a good job offer ended my quest for a masters.

They are counting me, but I'm going back to Win 7 U. I wonder how many of that huge number are doing the same.

Tweaked, played, fidgeted, got annoyed and a bit stone-walled from time to time on how I WANTED TO CUSTOMIZE it and a handful of issues with major things like audio and graphics drivers not to mention streaming software for Twitch......UGH!

Went back to 7. I'll jump back in in 9 months.

Damn page hang caused double post...Sorry! How'd you roll back to Win 7? I think I'll have to do a complete install as the computer going flaky looked like a good reason to try the upgrade. Like you, I may be back in another 9 or 10 months.

Oh! I retired as a computer systems project manager. There aren't many my age with a degree in CS<:-)

Installed on 75 million computers huh, well mine won't be 75 million and 1 for a long time. I'm on Windows 7 and all is right in for world for me right now as far as my PC is concerned. I'm sure I'll have to migrate at some point in time, but I don't see the rush to do it right now. Patience is virtue when it comes to migrating to a new Windows platform, especially if its a MS one IMHO.

After reading different post on how great and flawless win 10 is I decided to install it on my laptop that was running win 8. took me about 20 minutes to decide to roll back to win 8 it made my laptop and internet very sluggish and non responsive. Every thing is back to running good with win 8

I actually don't mind Windows 10 as I think it runs pretty nicely on my laptop although my desktop will not be moving from Windows 7 Ultimate any time soon. Btw, Edge is complete junk.

Oh! I retired as a computer systems project manager. There aren't many my age with a degree in CS<:-) There WAS a rollback option for 30 days in SETTINGS and RECOVERY but I wound up doing fresh install after format.

To Sikosrus: Yeah.....sluggish in many respects. Found out those with large libraries of music/pictures need to change their folder "Types" to "general items" rather than "music/pictures, etc" This is so when you open that folder with all the files, it won't take so long to build the icons.

This alone is a massive problem as folders auto identify with the first file you place in it.

I wouldn't mind if Microsoft would just keep a truly Classic theme UI option. Just like newer Office applications, Windows is looking more and more like a large print book for old people.
